PLEASE NOTE: The County requires you to begin publication within 30 days from the date that you filed your Fictitious Business Name (FBN) Statement.

The Mission Viejo News will re-file this for you and complete the total process for $65.00. This includes the Recorder’s fees, newspaper publication, Proof of Publication, filing the final Affidavit of Publication, and courier fee.

Fictitious Business Name (FBN) Filing Instructions

The county requires “Original Signature” not from an email or fax.

  1. Go to http://www.ocrecorder.com/services/fictitious
  2. Scroll down to “Fictitious Business Name Mail and Payment Information”, and click on “Online Application”
  3. On the left side of the page, click on the link that best fits your filing (New, Change, Abandonment, etc.)
  4. Fill out the form online. Once the application is complete, approve, click to print, and save to file.
  5. Once the Statement is printed and signed, please mail all pages to:

  1. Fax (949) 589-6429, e-mail (mvlegals@yahoo.com) or mail us a copy of your Fictitious Business Name statement along with the completed credit card information form OR call us with your FBN statement number and credit card payment.
  2. If you’d like to pay by check, just mail us a copy of your Fictitious Business Name statement along with a check payable to the Mission Viejo News.
